Bloating |
| |
Bloating occurs when fluid collects
underneath the surface of the frog. Bacteria which
has infected the skin cells prevents them from
draining this fluid properly. Unfortunately this
is a fairly common disease in pet frogs, particularly
aquatic frogs.
As the condition progresses the frog will have
difficulty performing everyday tasks such as swimming
and eating. It may get bad enough that the frog
will stand still for the majority of the day.
If the condition is not treated early enough the
stress level of the frog will rise and it is not
uncommon that the frog will refuse to eat. A veterinarian
can provide you with the proper medication and
injectable antibiotics could be necessary.
